Step 1: Gather your materials
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary materials and tools handy. You'll need:

- Knee kicker
- Carpet stretcher
- Safety goggles
Step 2. Measure your stairs
Start by measuring the width and depth of each stair tread. You'll also need to measure the height of the riser. These measurements will help you determine how much carpet you'll need for the project.
Step 3. Cut the carpet padding
Using your measurements, cut the carpet padding to fit each stair tread. Make sure the padding covers the entire tread but doesn't overlap onto the riser.
Step 4. Install the tack strips
